Sureyya Meriç-Pagano

Biography:

Dr. Meriç holds BSc., MSc, and Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from Istanbul Technical University, Turkey. She worked as research assistant and assistant professor at Istanbul Technical University, environmental engineering department from 1988 to 2004. She was visiting scientist in Italy from 1998 to 2000 at National Cancer Research Institute, Naples University Federico II and from September 2003 to December 2003 at University of Salerno, Environmental Engineering Laboratory (SEED). She collaborated with SEED as the scientific consultant and supervised MSc and Ph.D. students as well from 2004 to 2010. She was nominated as Professor in November 2010 at Namık Kemal University as the head of environmental engineering department and responsible of Environmental Analyses Laboratories. She collaborated with many International and National research and technological projects and supervised thesis in Turkish, Italian and English. She developed expertise mainly on advanced water and wastewater treatment technologies, Impact assessment of Xenobiotics, alternative water resources development and management.

Research Interests:

Her current research is focused on impact assessment of pharmaceuticals and nanoparticles as she has nominated National contact for Management Committee of "ESSEM COST Action ES1205 The transfer of engineered nanomaterials from wastewater treatment & stormwater to rivers". She is also interested in the areas of engineering core / environmental science and engineering, cleaner production technologies and nanotechnology
