To sustain a robust publishing infrastructure and deliver editorial excellence, we apply Article Processing Charges (APCs) to accepted manuscripts. These charges support essential publishing services, technology, and long-term preservation that make trusted Open Access publishing possible.

Why APCs Are Essential

Green vs. Gold Open Access

Open Access is commonly implemented in two forms:

• Green Open Access (Self-Archiving): Authors deposit a manuscript version in repositories. Availability may be subject to embargoes, and reuse can be restricted depending on publisher policies.
• Gold Open Access (Publisher-Hosted): The final peer-reviewed version is published immediately as Open Access on the journal website. Authors retain copyright and articles are typically published under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license, maximizing reuse and visibility.

Boffin Access operates under the Gold Open Access model while encouraging responsible self-archiving. We host the definitive version of record on our platform to support centralized access, discoverability, and long-term archiving.

APC Categories (3 Divisions Based on Article Size)

To keep charges fair and transparent, APCs are grouped into three divisions based on manuscript length and production complexity. The final APC category is confirmed after editorial assessment and applies only if the manuscript is accepted.

APC Policy

• Fee Structure: APCs are charged only upon acceptance. There is no submission fee.
• Payment Methods: Payments may be completed securely via Boffin Access’s online portal or via direct transfer arranged with our editorial office.
• Membership Program: Frequent contributors and institutional partners may benefit from membership options and discounted APCs.
• Refund Policy: If an author withdraws a manuscript after payment, a nominal processing fee will be deducted and the remaining amount refunded according to policy.
