Dr Maszenan Bin Abdul Majid, hold Ph. D in Microbiology and Biotechnology, First Class Honours in Microbiology and Biotechnology from La Trobe University, MBA from Murdoch University, LLB (Honours) degree from University of London, and completed Graduate Certificate in International Arbitration. He is a certified auditor for National Centre for Sustainability Reporting. Currently at Nanyang Environment and Water Research Institute NEWRI, Senior Research Fellow (Science and Technology) has worked on microbial community analysis of activated sludge (for 19 years) and biogranulation (for 9 years), Waste to Energy and Waste to Resources. He has interest in microbial population studies and its interaction in suspended growth system and biofilm process. He is experienced in molecular microbiological techniques and culturing of selected morphological bacteria from activated sludge and wastewater treatment using the Skerman micromanipulator. He has co-written three chapters on the genera Amaricoccus, Tessaracoccusand Tetraspheareain Bergey’s Manual of Systematic Bacteriology and published 40 over SCI-tracked journal papers. He has interest in translating science into technology, and develops technology with NEWRITech team into Engineering Applications. He also lectures CV6503 wastewater engineering: Treatment and Design to PhD and Master student enrolled with NTU, school of Civil and Environmental Engineering.
