Nissar Darmani was born in Kabul, Afghanistan. In 1971 he moved to England where he completed high school, undergraduate (BSc in Pharmacology/Biochemistry, Leeds University) and postgraduate studies (MSc in Applied Pharmacology; Ph.D. in Neuropharmacology, UWIST, UK). In 1988 he moved to the USA to pursue his postdoctoral research in neuropsychopharmacology at the Medical College of Virginia. He accepted a faculty position at KCOM in 1991 and became a tenured full professor in 2000. In 2005 he accepted the Chair of Basic Medical Sciences at the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific (COMP), Western University of Health Sciences. In 2009/2011, he was respectively promoted to the Assistant/Associate Dean position for Research.
His research interest, mainly focuses on Pharmacology, Neuro pharmacology , Basic Medical Sciences.
