Clement L Higginbotham

Biography:

Professor Clement Higginbotham is a distinguished academic and researcher, currently serving as the Director of Biomedical Research and Principal Investigator at Athlone Institute of Technology (AIT). He is also a lecturer in Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry/Materials, Medical Devices, and Food Science at AIT.

Professor Higginbotham earned his PhD in Organic Chemistry from University College Dublin. Following this, he was appointed as a Newman Scholar at UCD, where he continued to excel in his academic pursuits. He has extensive experience in postdoctoral research, having conducted research in the United Kingdom and Canada.

Under his leadership, Professor Higginbotham founded the Materials Research Institute at AIT, which has become a cornerstone of research excellence at the institute. His research interests span across various disciplines including biomedical research, organic chemistry, polymer chemistry/materials, medical devices, and food science.

Throughout his career, Professor Higginbotham has contributed significantly to the academic community through numerous publications in both national and international journals. His papers and books have garnered recognition for their contributions to advancing knowledge in his fields of expertise.

As a lecturer, Professor Higginbotham is dedicated to educating the next generation of scientists and researchers. His multidisciplinary approach and leadership in biomedical research underscore his commitment to innovation and excellence in academic and scientific pursuits at Athlone Institute of Technology.

Research Interests:

His research interests include all aspects of Biomedical Research, especially the use of hydro gels in drug delivery, biomedical coatings, tissue engineering and nanotechnology.
