Devendra Swaroop Bhargava

Biography:

Professor (Dr) Devendra Swaroop Bhargava, Roorkee University (now IIT)'s retired Professor (Environmental), has taught since 1960 at various Institutions including the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok and at BE, ME, PhD alma-maters. In between he availed foreign scholarship and served the Central Board for the Prevention and Control of Water Pollution, New Delhi, Uttranchal Government Advisor to Mela Adhikhari, Ardh Kumbh Mela-2004, Haridwar. He could single-handedly guide numerous Ph.D. candidates, despite various academic, administrative and economic odds/constraints, using indigenous means, he made a legendary record publication/contribution of over 470 research papers.

Research Interests:

River self-purification; river quality monitoring; water quality index; river surveys; water pollution control strategies and management; development of new concepts in the design and theories of water filtration and filter components, sedimentation tanks; adsorption, aerobic digestion. etc.; evolution of a rational and scientific teacher index for judging suitability of research level teaching faculty.
