Dr. Pârvu Alina Elena is a renowned professor of pathophysiology at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Medicine and Pharmacy Iuliu Hatieganu, Cluj-Napoca, Romania. She started her career as a general practitioner in 1984 and later served as a family doctor at the Adults Clinical Hospital in Cluj-Napoca from 1987 to 1993. Pârvu holds an M.D. from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Iuliu Hatieganu, and a Ph.D. in Normal and Pathological Physiology, with research interests in inflammation and nitro-oxidative stress. She has made significant contributions to the field of medicine, having published 21 medical books, 10 book chapters, and 173 full-text articles, and has received research grants. Pârvu is an active member of various professional organizations, including the Romanian Society of Pathophysiology, Romanian Society of Physiology, Federation of European Physiological Societies, and International Union of Physiological Sciences.
Dr. Pârvu Alina Elena research interest are inflammation and nitro-oxidative stress. These are addressed in disease-orientated studies for diagnostic, prognostic or therapeutic targets, when testing the effect of drugs, plant extracts or new synthesized compounds. The studies are performed on human subjects or experimental animals. They are interdisciplinary via collaborative research with partners from other departments of Iuliu Haţieganu University of Medicine and Pharmacy and other universities, via involving license students, PhD students and postdoctoral researchers.
