Huang Jiayi

Biography:

Huang Jiayi is a researcher who specializes in discovering and characterizing bioactive compounds from natural resources, such as functional food and herbal medicine. She has divided her research work into three parts, starting with identifying bioactive compounds from various natural food resources during her undergraduate studies, followed by discovering cysteine-rich peptides from medicinal plants during her Ph.D. research, and focusing on discovering natural products from microbial sources during her postdoctoral work. Her aim is to identify and characterize new compounds with biological activities that are useful in drug discovery. Huang collaborates with other researchers in the development of new techniques and methods for discovering bioactive compounds from natural sources.

Research Interests:

The researcher interests include discovering and characterizing functional peptides and proteins from natural products using mass spectrometry, gel electrophoresis, and chromatography systems. She is interested in performing cell-based assays, fungal assays, and bioinformatic analysis to discover their activities. She is experienced in protein characterization, ELISA assays, cell-based and biochemical assays, culturing cells, solid phase peptide synthesis, and multivariate analysis, omics analysis, and bioinformatics studies for protein characterization.
