Hyung Sik Kim

Biography:

Hyung Sik Kim, Ph.D., is a professor in the Division of Toxicology at the College of Pharmacy, Sungkyunkwan University in South Korea. He earned his M.S. degree from the same university in February 25, 1991, and completed his Ph.D. in Dr. Byung Mu Lee's lab, where he focused on the correlation between chemical carcinogenesis and DNA-adduct formation, and investigated the cancer chemopreventive effects of plant polysaccharides. He also gained expertise in molecular oncology techniques during this time. After obtaining his Ph.D., he worked as a Senior Researcher at the Korea Food & Drug Administration, where he studied the adverse effects of reproductive and developmental toxicants. Since 2003, he has been an Assistant Professor at the Division of Toxicology, College of Pharmacy, Pusan National University in Korea. Prof. Kim is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Association for Cancer Research, Society of Toxicology, International Congress of Toxicology, and Korean Society of Toxicology. He has also served as a vice president of the International Congress of Toxicology (ICT) in 2013 and the 8th Asian Toxicology in 2015. Prof. Kim has made significant contributions to the fields of pharmacology, oncology, and toxicology and has published numerous papers on these topics.

Research Interests:

Dr. Kim's primary research focuses on discovering new cancer biomarkers, elucidating the mechanisms of action of new anticancer agents, and exploring cancer chemoprevention approaches. He has authored numerous books, such as the Encyclopedia of Environmental Health, Reproductive and Developmental Toxicology, and Endocrine Disruptors. He is currently a member of the editorial boards of several prestigious journals, including Toxicology & Environmental Health Part A, The Journal of Toxicological Sciences, and Toxicological Research. His extensive publication record, which exceeds 400 papers, attests to his significant contributions to the fields of pharmacology and toxicology.
