Richard Kones

Biography:

Richard Kones MD, Ph.D., FAHA, FESC, FRSM, FRSH, FAGS, FRSB, attended NYU School of Medicine, was a NIH Fellow in cardiology at Tulane University School of Medicine. Recent research has focused on PCI and CABG in multivessel coronary disease and prevention of cardiometabolic risk to improve clinical outcomes. During his academic career, he has had several teaching appointments, received scholarships, awards, and grants. His work includes over 115 publications, 6 books, presentations, courses, and lectures; he has peer-reviewed for 153 different medical/health publishers.As a clinician, researcher, educator/mentor, editor, and public health advocate, Dr. Kones’ biography has appeared in a number of medical biographical registries. In the last 6 years, he has been invited to lecture, panel, or chair 101 academic events. With a broad-based scholarly background in medicine, Dr. Kones brings vast editorial expertise to this journal.

Research Interests:

Cardiovascular risk, Dyslipidemia, metabolic syndrome, diabetes, hypertension; all with respect to inflammation, molecular and oxidative mechanisms, newer methods of treatment, and optimizing patient outcomes; risk assessment and reduction; statin and nonstatin drugs; achievement of lifestyle and therapeutic goals; public health policies in nutrition and physical activity to prevent heart disease.
