Biography:

Owais A. Khan holds Bachelor in Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc& A.H.) from Birsa Agricultural University, Indiaand masters in Veterinary Microbiology from Gujarat Agriculture University, India. He is certified Diplomate of American College of Veterinary Microbiology (ACVM) in specialty Virology and Bacteriology & Mycology. He is diagnostic microbiologist and his research interestis avian influenza surveillance and pathogenesis as well as diagnosis of various poultry diseases. He is currently working on Marek’s disease (an oncogenic virus of chicken) recombinant vaccine development and also to use it as vector of vaccine delivery.

Research Interests:

His diagnostic activities focus on the isolation and identification of various microbiological agents that cause clinical disease in domestic animals and poultry. He is actively involved in the development of Herpesvirus of turkey (HVT) recombinant vector vaccine which will protect the chickens from two or more than two important poultry viral diseases like Infectious bursal disease, Newcastle disease and Mareks disease.
