Dr. Dean Markic was born 1972 in Rijeka, Croatia. In 1997 he finished his medicine in Rijeka, Croatia. Since 1999 He started working at the University Hospital Rijeka. He was an established urologist since 2008 and became a fellow of European Board of Urology (first in Croatia). During 2012 he received the scholarship from European Association of Urology and spends three months in the University Hospital Salzburg, Austria. His study was mainly about laparoscopy in urology. He is currently working as a senior urologist at the Department of Urology, University Hospital of Rijeka, Rijeka, Croatia. His main interest is in kidney transplantation, laparoscopy, and renal cell cancer. Also, he is a subspecialist of kidney transplantation and Vice-Chair of Referral Center for Kidney Transplantation in Croatia. Also, he is one of the co-authors of National Guidelines for Kidney Transplantation and invited the speaker in the International Croatian Transplantation School. For the last 15 years, he is also working as a Faculty of Medicine at University of Rijeka.
His research interest mainly focuses on urology, kidney transplantation, peritoneal dialysis, laparoscopy, and kidney cancer – molecular basis.
