Dr. Athanasios Papatsoris graduated from Patras School of Medicine with an honorary scholarship and from the same University he obtained a Master of Science (MSc) in Pathobiochemistry with a thesis in benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). His Ph.D. thesis in bladder cancer was completed in the 2nd Department of Urology of Athens University. He was trained in Urology in London and in Athens, where he was certified as a Urological Surgeon. Thereafter, he completed in London a two-year Endourology fellowship, officially recognized by the Endourological Society. Also, he completed a clinical fellowship in laparoscopy in Le Mans, France, supported by the European Urological Scholarship Programme (EUSP). Furthermore, for one year he served as an honorary Consultant in Urology at Royal London Hospital, Barts Health NHS Trust. He obtained his fellow of the European Board of Urology (FEBU) degree in Athens and since then he is a FEBU examiner.
Currently, Dr. Athanasios Papatsoris is an Assistant Professor of Urology at the 2nd Department of Urology, School of Medicine, Sismanoglio General Hospital, Athens Greece. Moreover, he is an Associate Board member of the EAU Section of Urolithiasis (EULIS), Board member of the EAU Young Academic Urologist (Endourology Group) and European Board of Urology (EBU) National Delegate. Also, he is the Assistant Secretary of the Hellenic (Greek) Urological Association (HUA) and Board member of the HUA Section of Endourology – Laparoscopic Surgery and Urotechnology. Furthermore, he is a Board member of the Institute of Molecular Medicine and & Biomedical Research (IMIBE) as well as the Hellenic Genito-Urinary Cancer Group (HGUCG).
Dr. Papatsoris has more than 125 publications in Pub Med indexed journals and is a member of the Editorial Board of 9 Urology journals. Lastly, he has participated as faculty in several international congresses, workshops and intensive courses (e.g. IRCAD-France).
His research interests focuses in Endourology, lithiasis, laparoscopy, prostate cancer.
