Satya Prakash Singh

Biography:

Dr. Satya P. Singh, Ph.D., is a Professor Emeritus and UGC-BSR Faculty Fellow at the Department of Biosciences, Saurashtra University, Rajkot, Gujarat, India. He has served as the Head of the Department of Biosciences and coordinated various research programs. Dr. Singh's research interests include halophilic/haloalkaliphilic bacteria, actinobacteria, and archaea; hyperthermophilic bacteria/protein engineering; recombinant enzymes from haloalkaliphilic bacteria; metagenomics of extreme environment; and metabolic regulation in Gram-positive bacteria. He has supervised over 100 M.Sc. dissertation students, 24 M.Phil. students, and 25 Ph.D. students. Dr. Singh has published 106 research papers in peer-reviewed journals, with a cumulative impact factor of 201 and a highest impact factor of 6.20. His research has received over 2,960 citations on Google Scholar, and he has a Research Gate score of 35.35.

Research Interests:

Satya P. Singh's research interests revolve around the study of various microorganisms that thrive in extreme environments such as halophilic/haloalkaliphilic bacteria, actinobacteria, archaea, and hyperthermophilic bacteria. He has a particular focus on understanding the diversity, phylogeny, and biocatalytic potential of these microorganisms. Singh's research also includes exploring the structure and function relationship of hyperthermophilic bacteria through protein engineering. He has worked on developing recombinant enzymes from haloalkaliphilic bacteria and has extensively researched the metagenomics of extreme environments. Additionally, Singh has also conducted studies on the metabolic regulation of Gram-positive bacteria.
