Dr. Qiang Cheng received the BS and MS degrees from the College of Mathematical Science at Peking University, China, and the PhD degree from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Currently, he is an associate professor at the Institute of Biomedical Informatics and the Department of Computer Science, the University of Kentucky. He previously was a faculty fellow at the Air Force Research Laboratory, Wright-Patterson, OH, a senior researcher and senior research scientist at Siemens Medical Solutions, Siemens Corporate Research, Princeton, NJ, and associate professor at the Department of Computer Science, Southern Illinois University Carbondale. His research interests include data science, pattern recognition, machine learning, and biomedical informatics. He has published many peer-reviewed papers in various premium venues including IEEE TPAMI, TNNLS, TSP,NIPS, CVPR, ICDM, AAAI, ICDE, CIKM, KDD, ACM TIST, and TKDD. He has a number of international patents issued or filed with the IBM T.J. Watson Research Laboratory, Siemens Medical, and Southern Illinois University.
His research interests focuses on pattern recognition, big data analytics and machine learning, modeling and simulation of biomedical and healthcare services, signal/image processing in biomedicine, engineering, healthcare.

Dr Adrian Nicolae Branga received his PhD degree in Applied Mathematics at Babes-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca in February 2003. His current research concerns are Statistical methods, Computational models, Programming language, Data processing, Probabilistic data networks. He is currently Associate Professor at Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu, Romania. Between 2002 and 2010 he worked in the Software Industry as a Programmer Analyst at AMN Systems Ro, with the following technologies: C++, C#, ASP, PHP, SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, CSS, JQuery, XML. Dr Branga worked on several research projects during his career. He wrote 8 books / monographs and published 18 scientific articles in journals indexed in Thomson Reuters Web of Science or other international databases and 6 papers in proceedings of international conferences. He was a member in the scientific and organizing committees of 16 international conferences and invited speaker / participant (with scientific papers) at 45 international conferences and research seminars. Dr Branga is a member of the Research Center in Mathematics and Applications and a member of the International Research Seminar in Mathematics and Related Fields, within Lucian Blaga University. He was Editor-in-Chief of the journal General Mathematics between 2010 and 2014.

He has worked with athletic clubs in many disciplines.Dr. Najafipour received his MD degree from Shiraz University, Iran and earned his Ph.D. in Sports Medicine from the University of Metropolitan, Manchester and performed PostDoc. Dr. Wenfei Jin is an Associate Professor in Department of Biology in Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech). Dr. Jin received his bachelor's degree from Zhengzhou University in 2006. He received his Ph.D. in Computational biology from Chinese Academy of Sciences and Max Planck Society Partner Institute for Computational Biology (PICB) with Prof. Li Jin (CAS member) and Prof. Shuhua Xu in 2012. Dr. Jin completed his Postdoc Fellow in systems biology at National Institutes of Health (NIH) with Dr. Keji Zhao in 2017. He was selected to “National 1000 young talents program of China” and joined in Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) in 2017. Dr. Jin works on population genetics and precision medicine related field since his Ph.D. program. He has published >20 research articles and book chapters, including first/co-fist author articles on Nature, AJHG, Genome Res, Genome Biol and HMG. Dr. Jin and his colleagues developed single cell DNase-seq (scDNase-seq) that could provide key regulatory information for precision medicine (Jin, et.al, 2015 Nature). Dr. Jin is the recipient of many honors and awards including Springer Theses, CAS Excellent Doctoral Dissertation and NHLBI Orloff Award. Dr. Jin is especially interested in promoting the applications of single cell sequencing in clinical diagnosis and medical consultation
Dr. Jin’s lab is interested in identifying genetic/epigenetic changes that drive oncogenesis, and developing disease risk prediction model for precision medicine. The long-term goal of the lab is to develop efficient personalized treatment for cancers based on patients’ genetic background. In near future, the lab will focus on investigating genetic/epigenetic heterogeneity and micro-evolution of cancer cells using single cell sequencing related technologies
